Customer Service Assistant Programme

Here's where most of our people start in the business. In your first six months, we'll give you all skills you'll need to excel at your job. We'll welcome you to the business. Give you some background on the size and scope of William Hill. And tell you what your role will involve. Then we'll teach you all about great customer service and what it's like to work in a William Hill shop.

Following this, you'll learn all about providing great service. You'll get to meet a variety of managers from the business. And you'll be regularly assessed on your progress and skills. If you've worked in the industry before, you can fast track through your induction training.

Your first few weeks on the shop floor

For the first few weeks in a William Hill shop, we won't put you on the rota for the shop floor. This means while you'll be on hand to help, you'll have more time to learn and train on the job. It just helps to ease you in a little, so you're not thrown in at the deep end.

During your first six months at William Hill, you'll continue to learn about the business and your role. We'll check in with you to see how your first few weeks have gone. Review your progress. Teach you more about 'Friendly Service'. And take you through our famous expertise training, in things like settling bets and gaming machines. After completing your development, you can keep on growing with even more training.

Deputy Manager Training Programme

We really focus on growing our own managers. And we develop our people to become the managers of the future. If you're a Customer Service Assistant with aspirations to become a Deputy Manager, this is the next step in your training. It's a six day course, where topics include:

Interpersonal skills - communication, effective management and leadership

Business expertise - commerciality, discretion, understanding and applying rules

Team development - training and coaching skills

Compliance - the regulatory side of being a Deputy Manager

Shop Manager Development Programmes

At William Hill, we really invest in our top people. So as part of our Retail Academy, we have various programmes to keep you developing through the business, including:

This programme is all about developing an environment of promoting the business. Every Shop Manager and Deputy Manager attends and learns more about the Home of Betting and how to make sure that our customers get the best products and the best services each time they visit our shops.

If you're looking to progress even further, you could benefit from our Certificate in Operations Management Programme. Here, we take a small number of Managers and develop them into our District Operations Managers (DOM) of the future.

It's big leap from Shop Manager level to DOM. Our series of workshops and 12 month programme work to bridge the gap. Completed with the help of your allocated senior manager mentor, you'll also be given a mentor from a senior position in the business.
